Restoration Time... 1961 Straight Leg Titan Red Hair Skipper Doll

Hello doll lovers!! I had time to do one more restoration a week or so ago, so I decided to work on this girl. She is also a part of the estate sale sad doll lot and was only $1. She is a straight leg titan red haired skipper with the side glancing eyes. She was like all the other dolls smelly and dirty. I cleaned her the same way I cleaned the other dolls (instructions will be at the bottom of the post). I washed her hair and body twice, almost all of the marks came off her body. I put conditioner on her hair for about 30 min, it came out very shiny and soft. I do not have any skipper clothes so she had to be put back into the outfit I found her in, I know this is a penny brite dress but it's all I have right now. I did clean it as well so she could have a clean outfit. I did have a pair of vintage skipper shoes for her. She turned out so good, I love her too and she will be staying with me just like all the other dolls.... One of these days I will quit restoring these older dolls and get back to selling some!

(If you are wondering how I clean my dolls I use dish soap first then do a wash with some baking soda, I use a tooth brush for both of these steps. I clean their hair with dish soap too and use conditioner that I let set for about 10 min then comb through. For really damaged hair I use a boil wash, which is just some boiling water and you dunk their hair in or can let them set for a bit. All of my cleaning tips came from a YouTube channel called "a thousand splendid dolls" I love their channel and she has so many helpful tutorials. This is how I clean all the dolls and ponies I do restorations on.)

Restoration Time... 1966 Color Magic Barbie

Hello doll lovers!! Last week I did a few more restorations on some vintage barbie dolls. I was very intrigued with this girl, I did not get her at the estate sale like my previous dolls. I found her at a small flea market in a bag with another doll for $1. She looked like a pony tail barbie. In fact after I did some research I thought for sure she was a swirl barbie. Her hair is sparse on top and you can tell her hair is parted to go over to the side. To my surprise after cleaning her and figuring out that swirl barbies do not have rubber bend legs and her hair is a vibrant red, I did more research. She is actually a 1966 color magic barbie. When she was in stores she came with solutions to change the color of her hair (could be why her hair is so sparse on top) and clothing. Also her hair is made to part over the side like the swirl, she is supposed to come with hair clips but I do not have those.
When it came to cleaning her I washed her like I do all my dolls (those instructions will be at the end of the post). I washed her two times then washed her hair twice, then put the conditioner on for about 30 min. Her hair was very soft and shiny, of course I do believe her hair was cut because it is shorter than most of the dolls I found online. Her body came clean except for a few light places and a place on her foot.
I put her in a homemade pink dress that I really like and gave her some green pumps to match the green flowers on her dress. I pulled her hair over to hide her hair on top, I used an elastic to secure it in place. I tied some hair on the bottom with the elastic, then I put the hair across the top in the elastic to hold it in place. I also put and elastic around the bottom of her hair and her neck to try to get it to lay down and hide the elastic I used to pull her hair over. I removed the elastic band after 2 days and her hair lays down very nicely, you can see the other elastic band holding the hair at the back a little but I think she will display well.  Because her hair is so short it wanted to stand up a little. She has some flaws like a lot of pin pricks on her feet and a bit of her nose is missing but I still think she is a pretty doll. These dolls are hard to find and do sell for a lot if you have one in good condition but I am going to keep my girl flaws and all.

Fashion Fever Doll Finds in Goodwill Kayla and Drew 2004

Hello doll lovers!! I found these two pretty ladies at the goodwill a couple of weeks ago for $1 a piece and let me tell you they took forever to identify. I finally found them today after weeks of searching, putting every key word in I could think of. It just so happens that these girls came from the same line and I found them together, must mean they belonged to the same person.
These girls are from the fashion fever line that came out in 2004. The red head in the white and purple outfit is Drew, she is missing her lace hose and accessories but still has her knit hat. The dark haired girl is Kayla, she has her whole outfit but is missing her accessories. I knew these girls were special I could tell by their face screening and outfits. I am super excited to clean these girls up. Of course there are a long line of ladies in front of them but they will get their time.

Restoration Time... 1961 Flocked Hair Ken Doll

Hello doll lovers!! I did a few more restorations last week on some vintage dolls. I am almost done with the vintage dolls then I will move onto the newer dolls (by newer I mean 80s and 90s) and some more bratz. I will be sad to have all my estate sale sad dolls clean but also happy cause they are in way better condition than they were. This restoration was on a 1961 flocked hair ken doll. Like the other dolls I only paid $1 for him.
This guy was like all the other dolls I got that day he was pretty dirty and in bad shape (mainly his hair). First thing I did was take his homemade clothes off or I should say cut them off cause they were sewn onto him. Then I washed him like I do all the dolls (the way I clean them will be at the bottom of the post) I washed him 3 times (he had a lot of grime in his fingers, toes and face). When it came to his flocked hair I decided to remove it, cause it was bald in spots and when I tried to wash it, it came off more. I think it was so easy to come off because of the way he was stored, I have talked about the conditions these dolls were in before. His hair came right off with a little scrubbing. He has a very light blond paint under the flocking so it looks like he is bald but I think it is better than what he had before. I have toyed around with maybe using permanent marker to fill in his hair but I am not brave enough to attempt that yet.
Other than his hair being taken off and looking a bit bald he turned out good. He cleaned up really nicely his face paint is good and he only had a red spot on his shoulder. I do not have a lot of clothes for Ken dolls especially vintage ones but I found him some red shorts (I would say from the late 70s early 80s) and a shirt almost like what he would have been bought in but it is marked Allan but it fit him fine. I think he looks a lot better than when we started of course it would have been nice to save his hair but I am not that talented working on dolls yet but I do think I did good with what I had. **It always amazes me with how much darker they look when you first start to clean them, not sure if it is the lighting or they have that much grime on them**

Restoration Time... Bratz Costume Party Megan

Hello doll lovers!! Today is another bratz doll restoration, I love the dolls with the curly hair so much. The only problem is they do have a lot of frizz even though I let her set for 24 hours with her hair wrapped up in conditioner she still has some frizzy dryness. I think she turned out pretty good, her body wasn't bad at all she had a few marks but they come off so easy. If you want to know how I clean the dolls I will leave it at the bottom of the post.
I figured out who this girl was by her hair style, She is the costume party Megan. Her hair still had the original style when I found her, wish she would have had her clothes but she did have her original boots. I left her hair down instead of putting it back in the pony tails cause I could not get them to look right, but I do like her hair down. Cause I like wild big hair LOL. I kept her in her jacket, skirt and shoes but added a shirt under her jacket. I like how she turned out just wish the frizz was tamed. I still think she turned out better than she was and her hair does have shine to it. Hope she finds a home with someone who will appreciate her! You never know I may decide to straighten her hair.... If I do I'll update you!

Restoration Time.... Bratz Chloe

Hello doll lovers!! A couple of weeks ago I did a couple of restorations on some bratz dolls. As you seen I had to buy feet and clothes for them and that did not turn out so great. In fact I am still trying to get the smell out of the clothes so I had to purchase more clothes off of Mercari. I was a lot happier with those (no smells, should have just bought those and been done with it but my too much gene is so strong).  So I am just now getting to finishing these girls up.
This girl is a Chloe doll I have tried to find exactly who she was but have not found her as of writing this post. As you can see she has matted hair but her face and body are in good shape. I cleaned her as I usually do (i'll put how I clean the dolls at the bottom if you are interested) and washed her hair like normal too. I did put conditioner on her hair and let it set overnight cause her hair was a bit frizzy and I really wanted to keep the curl. I finally put some gel in it to smooth it a little bit but I love how it turned out, I know it is big and puffy but I like it!
I changed her feet from the black heels to the gold heels and put her in the gold/silver top and gold skirt. I am not sure where this oufit came from or if it goes together but I love it on her. She looks really pretty with her Dolly Parton hair and gold outfit. I do like how she turned out and hope some one else will like her just has much and give her a good home.
