Goodwill Find... Original Puppy Surprise 1993

Hello doll lovers!! Today as you can tell this is going to be a toy post. A few months ago I found a bag of vintage stuffed toys at my local goodwill. The whole bag was only 3.99 and it was packed full of stuff! I got the few animals I kept and a bunch of beanie babies, pound puppies and other vintage stuffed toys that I donated. I really only wanted 3 things out of the bag and they were well worth the 3.99 I paid.
This is a 1993 pink puppy surprise. I had to take pics of her laying down cause her head is bent down pretty bad. Not sure if she was loved a lot or if it was how she was stored. Because I believe that all the animals came from the same person and was stored in the comforter bag they were sold in. It also had an old school animal sling toy holder (I had one as a kid too, but you may not know what I am talking about). As you can see she came with 3 puppies (you could get up to 5) they puppies have a lot of fuzz balls on them so I think they were for sure well loved.
I did purchase these items to resell but of course I have stored them away for now. I just couldn't get rid of them yet. But I will say after looking at sold listings, this girl is not in the best of shape so she probably won't sell for much anyways. The other animals I donated weren't worth a lot either cause of their condition. I do believe these were stored in the comforter bag in an attic cause of the feel of them. But I can still enjoy them and appreciate them and who knows maybe I can get them up for sale and it may make a person's day!

Restoration Time..... Vintage 1968 Talking Barbie

Hello doll lovers!! Remember that sad estate sale doll lot I was working on in November of last year? Well this girl is one of the last from that lot. As you can see I saved the "best" for last when it came to these dolls. As I stated in those restoration posts I paid $1 a piece for these dolls. Of course taking a chance, especially on this girl she was taped together and her head had been broken off.
First step was to clean this girl up, I washed her body and hair 3 times (steps for that will be at the bottom of the post). Her legs and arms were so dirty I had to use a magic eraser on them to get them clean, I included photos of how dirty they were compared to the clean ones (it was gross). The tape residue came of pretty easily with soap and water, did have to magic erase a little but I thought it was going to be really hard to get off. Her face did have a little bit of marker on the eye brow but it is not noticeable now. Her hair was nice it just needed cleaning.
I do not have her original outfit, the outfit she came in was made out of paper and tape so I put her in an older outfit I had. Think it looks really cute on her, I did her hair like it was originally done in the 60s. I didn't have any little ribbon so I just used the rubber hair ties. Unfortuntely I could not fix her leg knobs so her legs could pop back on, that meant the only way I could get her legs to stay on was to super glue them. I hated doing it but that was the only way she could be fixed so now she can not move her legs. Her neck piece was broken as well so it was super glued too. Over all I think she is really pretty am I sad her legs did not get fixed back, yes. But atleast she is clean and back in one piece, I am sure she is happier now.

(If you are wondering how I clean my dolls I use dish soap first then do a wash with some baking soda, I use a tooth brush for both of these steps. I clean their hair with dish soap too and use conditioner that I let set for about 10 min then comb through. For really damaged hair I use a boil wash, which is just some boiling water and you dunk their hair in or can let them set for a bit. All of my cleaning tips came from a YouTube channel called "a thousand splendid dolls" I love their channel and she has so many helpful tutorials. This is how I clean all the dolls and ponies I do restorations on.)

Restoration Time.... Peaches N' Cream Barbie

Hello doll lovers!! A couple of days ago I did a few restorations while in quarentine, I got this girl for .29 at my local salvation army (along with the jem that was posted a few days ago). I guess the vintage girls got me in the mood to do some restorations.
This girl wasn't too bad except for her hair it was a bit matted in the back. I cleaned her like I do all my dolls, those instructions will be at the bottom of the post. Only washed her body and hair once since she was in good shape. Left her with the conditioner on for about 10 min., thought I was going to keep her with a little curl to her hair but it started looking frizzy while drying so I did do a boil wash on her.
I happen to have her dress but it is not in the best condition so I will be on the look out for a better shape dress and hopefully her boa that matches. Would love to find her shoes too but I am sure that would be a miracle. Tried to do her hair similar to what she had new but it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted but she still looks very pretty. Her makeup is so vibrant, that is hard to come by when dolls have been played with. She is a pretty girl, glad I picked her up that day!

Vintage Doll Haul Y'all.... Felt Leprechaun-Forsum Girl

Hello doll lovers!! Today is a vintage doll haul from salvation army, a week ago I got to go in for a donation drop off and decided to walk around for a min. I found some great dolls that day and had a good relaxing time. I found this felt leprechaun doll for .59 I can't find any like him online so I don't a maker on him but he is cute I couldn't resist. Then I found this little red hair Forsum Japan doll, she was in plastic but it was gross so I got rid of it. I believe she is made to look like she is picking her nose (pic below of that). She was only .69 and I just had to have her. I had a feeling about her and it was spot on, she is selling for $30 or more online. I just love her big eyes and cute face.

Restoration Time.... Jem/Jerrica from Hasbro Jem and the Holograms

Hello doll lovers!! A few days ago I decided to clean up a few of my doll finds. What better way than to start with a few that are near and dear to my heart. I had a Jem doll just like this in the 80s, she was one of my favorites! This girl was found at my local salvation army for .29 (I have a haul post with her in it if you want more info).
Not sure if it picks up in the pics or not but her face was pretty dingy and her heels was very dirty. I did not know if she would come all clean but she turned out great! Her face make up is really nice and pigmented, I couldn't tell with all that dirt on there. I didn't have any of her clothes so I put her in a dress that seemed to go with her rock and roll theme. Her hair turned out so nice and soft she still had her light pink color to the top of her hair.
I don't know if you are a child of the 80s and can remember but when this doll came out she was Jem the rock star with her pink hair and Jerrica the manager with her blonde hair. You would put her pink hair up in her hat so only her blonde was showing. She came with her Jerrica outfit (white and teal stripe shirt dress with hat, reversible belt and teal pumps- also her Jem outfit pink metallic dress, reversible belt, sparkly tights and metallic pink shoes.  She also had earrings that would flash with a switch on her back (in the show that is how she would change into Jem or Jerrica, she would push her earrings and magically change with the help of synergy) sadly I changed her batteries but she did not work. Her battery compartment did not have any corrosion so I am not sure whey she won't work but she is 34 years old.
Since she has an electronic component to her I did a little extra for her cleaning. I always wrap the electronic component with a paper towel and tape to make sure no water gets in those parts. I washed her as usual I will put a detailed list of how I wash my dolls at the bottom of the page. Once she was dry I took the towel off and ran a damp cloth over that area to clean it. I only did one wash on her body with soap, one wash with baking soda and one wash of her hair and put the conditioner on for about 10 min. I think she turned out so pretty, she looks great in her dress with her clean up!
