I'm not a doll collector... but Iove to hunt for them....

Hello doll lovers!! If you do not know (which I am sure you do not) I also have two other blogs, The Economically Thrifty Mommy and A Thrifty Vintage Collector. I have had the mommy blog for 7 years and the vintage blog for 1 year. I really wasn't sure if I should start another blog but I do have a lot of dolls and get them pretty regularly. I am not a doll collector (or so I tell myself), I do however enjoy hunting them in thrift stores, yard sales and the occasional clearance.
What I do really enjoy is the hunt and finding awesome dolls out "in the wild" and fixing them back up. It is very soothing and therapeutic to clean a doll up and fix their hair back to what they looked like when first out of box. I clean the dolls up and then sell them to make my money back and hopefully a little extra. Of course there are times I find dolls that peek my interest and I do not want to get rid of them. So I guess there maybe a small collection of dolls in my home LOL, but I'm not a doll collector (keep telling myself that).
Before I had my son in my mid 20's I did have a HUGE collection of vintage dolls. When I say vintage I mean vintage, like early 50s and 60s. My whole bedroom was decorated with dolls and accessories. I had pictures at one time but can not find them now (if they ever come up I will do a post about it). I loved those dolls, they all looked so realistic, nothing you find today. Sadly most have been sold or donated, I did keep a few of my favorites in hopes I could display them again one day.
I stopped collecting and displaying once my oldest son was born, which was 10 years ago. The money was better spent on him and I didn't want him tearing the dolls up or him getting hurt since some where breakable. Plus can you imagine a doll making it for 50 years just to be torn apart by a toddler? So sad! Then once he got older my younger son came around and we moved 3 times so it was just hard to keep them displayed. I am sure whoever got them was happy and they went to a great home and are displayed to this day.
Hopefully this blog is informative and fun to follow. I have done a couple doll posts on both of my other blogs but since I really do want to do more with my hobby. I thought it would be better to dedicate a whole blog to it. This blog with be about everything dolls, there will be hauls, cleaning tips, before and afters and information about the dolls. I will also showcase accessories and clothing too. So if this is something you are interested in as well, join in and follow along!

**This picture is from a display I had in my room when I collected vintage dolls, see I told you they were vintage...** All of these were composition dolls the larger doll was an Ideal beautiful baby doll, I loved her. Sadly she was one of the dolls I sold because she was worth a bit of money. Maybe one day I will find her again. Hope you enjoy my posts and come back!
