Hello doll lovers!! A couple of days ago I did a few restorations while in quarentine, I got this girl for .29 at my local salvation army (along with the jem that was posted a few days ago). I guess the vintage girls got me in the mood to do some restorations.
This girl wasn't too bad except for her hair it was a bit matted in the back. I cleaned her like I do all my dolls, those instructions will be at the bottom of the post. Only washed her body and hair once since she was in good shape. Left her with the conditioner on for about 10 min., thought I was going to keep her with a little curl to her hair but it started looking frizzy while drying so I did do a boil wash on her.
I happen to have her dress but it is not in the best condition so I will be on the look out for a better shape dress and hopefully her boa that matches. Would love to find her shoes too but I am sure that would be a miracle. Tried to do her hair similar to what she had new but it didn't turn out quite the way I wanted but she still looks very pretty. Her makeup is so vibrant, that is hard to come by when dolls have been played with. She is a pretty girl, glad I picked her up that day!
(If you are wondering how I clean my dolls I use dish soap first then do a wash with some baking soda, I use a tooth brush for both of these steps. I clean their hair with dish soap too and use conditioner that I let set for about 10 min then comb through. For really damaged hair I use a boil wash, which is just some boiling water and you dunk their hair in or can let them set for a bit. All of my cleaning tips came from a YouTube channel called "a thousand splendid dolls" I love their channel and she has so many helpful tutorials. This is how I clean all the dolls and ponies I do restorations on.)
