Restoration Time.... Jem/Jerrica from Hasbro Jem and the Holograms

Hello doll lovers!! A few days ago I decided to clean up a few of my doll finds. What better way than to start with a few that are near and dear to my heart. I had a Jem doll just like this in the 80s, she was one of my favorites! This girl was found at my local salvation army for .29 (I have a haul post with her in it if you want more info).
Not sure if it picks up in the pics or not but her face was pretty dingy and her heels was very dirty. I did not know if she would come all clean but she turned out great! Her face make up is really nice and pigmented, I couldn't tell with all that dirt on there. I didn't have any of her clothes so I put her in a dress that seemed to go with her rock and roll theme. Her hair turned out so nice and soft she still had her light pink color to the top of her hair.
I don't know if you are a child of the 80s and can remember but when this doll came out she was Jem the rock star with her pink hair and Jerrica the manager with her blonde hair. You would put her pink hair up in her hat so only her blonde was showing. She came with her Jerrica outfit (white and teal stripe shirt dress with hat, reversible belt and teal pumps- also her Jem outfit pink metallic dress, reversible belt, sparkly tights and metallic pink shoes.  She also had earrings that would flash with a switch on her back (in the show that is how she would change into Jem or Jerrica, she would push her earrings and magically change with the help of synergy) sadly I changed her batteries but she did not work. Her battery compartment did not have any corrosion so I am not sure whey she won't work but she is 34 years old.
Since she has an electronic component to her I did a little extra for her cleaning. I always wrap the electronic component with a paper towel and tape to make sure no water gets in those parts. I washed her as usual I will put a detailed list of how I wash my dolls at the bottom of the page. Once she was dry I took the towel off and ran a damp cloth over that area to clean it. I only did one wash on her body with soap, one wash with baking soda and one wash of her hair and put the conditioner on for about 10 min. I think she turned out so pretty, she looks great in her dress with her clean up!

(If you are wondering how I clean my dolls I use dish soap first then do a wash with some baking soda, I use a tooth brush for both of these steps. I clean their hair with dish soap too and use conditioner that I let set for about 10 min then comb through. For really damaged hair I use a boil wash, which is just some boiling water and you dunk their hair in or can let them set for a bit. All of my cleaning tips came from a YouTube channel called "a thousand splendid dolls" I love their channel and she has so many helpful tutorials. This is how I clean all the dolls and ponies I do restorations on.)
