Facial Comparison for the Original Jem doll and the Glitter and Gold Jem Doll

     Hello doll lovers!! I decided to do a comparison of my two Jem dolls! Since I have mentioned quite a few times how the faces are so different. Think I like the original version more because that is the one I had as a kid. 

     The original Jem doll came out in 1985, she has a more cartoonish face. Her eye makeup is much more vibrant and bright but her cheeks and lips are a very light pink. I would assume to offset her eye makeup. Her lips are smaller and she has a closed smile. Her hair is very light pink and blonde.

     The glitter and gold Jem came out in 1987, she has a more natural face. Her eye makeup is very light and her eye brows look to be a bit faded. Her blush and lipstick are a little darker but her eyes are very natural. Her mouth is bigger and is an open smile. Her hair is light pink and blonde with gold tinsel in it. 

     Both of their bodies are the same, they are the same height and body mold. It looks to me like the glitter and gold Jem has a bigger head with a wider nose. They both have the same switch to turn on their earrings, original Jems does not work but glitter and golds work. Their skin tones look to be about the same, glitter and gold maybe a little lighter. To me it looks like they are two different dolls, I do not think I have ever seen a doll line that looks so different unless it is a relaunch years later. These dolls were only two years apart and there is a rock and curl Jem that came out in 1987 as well but I think she has the same face mold as the glitter and gold. I did think I like the original more but the glitter and gold girl is very pretty. Just goes to show you need to see something in person before you make any decisions.
